I love bargains

I Love thrift shopping, from the thrill of never knowing what those racks will reveal, to seeing things at amazing low prices, and finding some really cool things :)  Today was one of those days, A good friend and I decided to hit up a couple of the local thrift shops to find pj tops for her, we didn't get any pj's but I walked away with some amazing finds for the kids.
batman pillow brand new for $2?  yes please! Perfect for the boy's batman room I will be painting shortly!

little shoes for the new little man for next summer for 50 cents.  I can't argue with that, it's an amazing deal

all the boys in our family were born in the summer or at the end of winter, so there's not too much warmer clothes in the newborn to 6 months sizes, the 3 shirts cost me a total of $4

I saw this onsie and fell in love with it.  it fits in so well with our lifestyle and my husbands love of music, these two cost me $2

now us being huge Jays fans and my husband loves the retro logo, when I saw this I couldn't say no, The kid's won't fit into it for another year or so, but for $1.99 why not?

and the new baby needs a soccer(football) jersey, it's a shame they didn't have an Ireland jersey, but England works, well some family members might not agree but at least it's a team from the UK :)

2 pairs of paints for the little man $2

and I can never go into a thrift shop without finding at least some bigger clothes to cover my rapidly expanding belly so 3 tops for $3 is pretty good, and hopefully with my magic to shrink clothes I'll be able to shrink them after the baby is born.

I've been needing a new purse for ages now, all of mine are starting to fall apart.  And I'm still stuck in the time where I could buy a good quality purse for less than $20, now it seems everywhere is charging and arm and a leg for purses, crap 5 years ago I bough a medium sized Guess purse for $25 and now the walmart brands are asking almost $40 or more! it's craziness!  But I managed to find this purse, brand new with the strap protectors still on it for $5 so that will feed my thirst for purses for another month of two, until I need to get a new one again.

My husband complains I have too many purses, I've cut my collection into a sliver of what it used to be since me and him have been together, but I still held onto my favourites, and as of right now I think I have 15, which could be alot worse, there was a point before kids I was buying 15 purses every other week, and of course had to buy shoes to go with all the purses too, most of those I've gotten rid of too over the years....which is upsetting, I love my shoes even though I can't wear my heels right now.

hahah anyways I rambled on about my love of purses and shoes for a bit longer than I should have, but back to thrift shopping.  It is amazing. In Canada we have a website called Kijiji.ca which is like the american's craiglist.com where people can post free classifieds to sell their things.  90% of the things in my house have come from that website, or from thrift shops.  When we moved into our house I managed to get a 7 seater sectional with a pull out bed and 2 recliners for $40 and all that was wrong was a piece of fabric was cut from the back.  I love this couch, it is the comfiest thing I have ever sat on.  my other couches I got in a set for $30.
There have been many times where I hand my husband the money and tell him where to go, and he's cursing my name all the way home because of how heavy the items are.  we bought a 61" old school rear projection tv for $20 that lasted us 8 months of great enjoyment.  well minus the part of my husband and his friends having to move it.
anyways if your in Canada you should really check out kijiji.ca, you can find some amazing things there and it's a great place to sell your things.  It's nice that a place like that exists where I'm able to spoil my kids where I otherwise wouldn't be able to.  it's awesome :)

I am now off for the night and sorry for all the rambling I do today, but it's been a busy and tiring one.

yard work is exhausting

So it's been a couple days since I posted anything, but I'm still here.
I've been working on the front yard and back yard.  It's nice to see all my work paying off,
I wasn't able to get pictures of the front yard which is pretty much finished, but I'll post those in the next couple days.  but I do have some of the back yard to show what I have been up to this week.
I have big plans for the back yard to make it a place to have people over and enjoy the summer and the winter in it.
last year we rottotilled the lawn to make it more even, but then the first frost came and froze the ground.  then grass/weeds grew back, so now I'm filling in the holes so we can level it all out and have a flat lawn.

I hate those trees, but I have to deal with them because they are the neighbours....so I want to plant flowers along the fence to try to make them look a bit nicer :)

This is a giant hill that I've been slowly bringing down to expand the vegetable garden

my tiny vegetable garden, I obviously didn't make it big enough for all the plants I put in it, but it will be expanded soon :)

This garage will be getting torn down and a new one built, and where the wood is it's going to be another garden to finally add some colour to it.  there's too much green.

this fence is the most annoying thing ever, I have 3 tree stumps that I can't get out because they grew in the fence, and well I'm not strong enough hahaha. , I still have no idea what I want to do with this fence but grow some climbing thing that has colour.  I love colourful things :)

So that's what I've been trying to accomplish this week, it's going to take me a while to do everything I want in the backyard.  I want a huge tiered rock garden along the back fence with a water fall...but that's a long way off but I can slowly start.

oh and I'll have some interesting things to post coming up in the next couple weeks.  Our second wedding anniversary is coming up on the 20th, and one of my best friends will be coming to take a bunch of family pictures which are long long over due.  hahaha the last ones we had got done in wal-mart when our second son was 2 months old and looked like an alien, and we looked exhausted and bloated. I'll post that picture in a couple days when I find my scanner to show you just how bad a picture it is.
The only one who is looking good is my eldest son haha.

I hope everyone has a great night and I will try to post again tomorrow and if not the next day :)

mornings....ugh

Mornings are usually my least favourite time of the day.  I have never been a morning person, and probably never will be, but at least I've learned way's to make it easier:
1. I always try to have their clothes picked out the night before and ready to go
2.  I always try to have their cereal poured into their bowls the night before

The second one helps me tons and saves a bunch of screaming from hungry kids who want food on the table the second they ask for it.

On the plus side, this morning I was able to get one of them dressed before breakfast, it only took me 20 minutes because she's a squirmy worm who likes to wiggle and run away.

and never forget that the toys need to eat too.

I love the smiles I get from them in the morning, they brighten my whole day up :)
That rug used to be stain-free, until the picnics in the living room claimed it

The least favourite part of the mornings...Christian's braces...but at least he's getting to the point after a couple years and not fussing too much when they got put on.  And the Toy Story shoes help :)
Presley is my Curious George, always having to get into everything to see how it works.
and he hides the second he see's the camera and does his cheeky face when I catch him.

I love the days the boys get along, they are so close together and each other's best friend, these truly are the glory years where they actually show that they love each other, even if it means wrestling each other.
now sibling rivalry is something that shows up on a daily basis, like when Christian tries to use his walker.
Presley is right there trying to take it away.

Kylie is like a regular little girl, she loves shoes and clothes, and trying to get into mommy's make-up.
She's the one who tells me when it's time to go outside, with her big brown eyes batting her eyelashes and saying a simple "shoes".

No morning is complete without a cup of tea and talking to my best friend through the computer, though I forgot to take a picture of my tea, without my best friend I would be lost, she's one of those people you can tell anything to and she will never judge, and always try to give advice on problems and help where she can, she's a one in a million, and I'm blessed to have her in my life.

on the way outside I see a bunch of laundry that needs to be cleaned and put away, but with the kids smiling excited to go into the backyard, it can wait until next time, Kids won't remember how messy a house was, they remember the times they were smiling and the times I was there making memories with them.

so outside we go and the fighting starts, the territory over toys is a funny battle to watch, as they both yell at each other in their own kid language, but shortly later they are best of friends again.

And I finally got a picture of the three of them in the same spot :) it's a rarity at best.

my baby girl does a waddle sometimes when she walks, and I got one on film just by chance, and it's perfect.

and my vegetable garden the kids helped me make, with the rain the weeds have been coming back, but I have lots of Carrots starting to grow...the kids poured the package of seeds into the ground, it should be interesting to see them grow bigger.

oh and I can't forget this picture, it sums up how helpful my little man is, he's always trying to help others and make them smile.  I think it shows me that I must be doing a pretty good job trying to raise them into great caring human beings :)

The First Post

Welcome to my blog.  After much contemplating I decided I should start one.  Since this is my first post ever, please have patience, I'll catch on how to do this quickly I hope.

For those who don't know me I am a mother of 3 with 1 more on the way.  I have my two soon to be three boys, and my little princess.  Over the years I've forgotten all the little beautiful things in life because of how 'busy' I was.  Over the past couple weeks I have made it my goal to enjoy all the simple little things, and try to record them as best as possible.

I love how something as simple as a flower is so perfect and beautiful, the way the colours blend together and stick out.  And the smell, the smell from flowers is one of my sweet joys.  I love sitting outside just to smell the flowers.

So as this is my first post, I'd like to show some things that make my life
I never took the time before to realize how wonderful it is for my husband to make music, and that it can be caught on camera.  He's a perfectionist when it comes to his music.  And each of his instruments holds a special story.

His black electric acoustic has seen many days getting knocked over and played by the kids but still plays the same beautiful notes.

She doesn't get played and needs repairs but the memories of my husband meeting Paul Stanley are forever signed onto her body.

She was a unicorn for years, but we finally got her, that was a great day when we had to pick her up from the post office.

She is my favourite out of them all, the way the curves move so gracefully, and the star emblem just pops and gives her that full beauty she deserves

The greatest simple things out of them all are seeing the way my kids love his music when he plays.  The way their little faces light up with a smile from ear to ear, the way they bob their head back and forth to the beat,
I wouldn't want to have it any other way
